Health Dept. To Distribute Free Flu Vaccines To Children


BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Baltimore City Health Department is going to be offering free flu vaccinations to elementary school-age children over the next two weeks.

Health officials said the free FluMist vaccine will be available to healthy children ages 5 to 11 at the following elementary schools:

Harford Heights Elementary
Oct. 16 from 2:30-4:30p.m.
1919 N. Broadway St.
Baltimore, Md. 21213

Cross Country Elementary
Oct. 19 from 2:30-4:30p.m.
6100 Cross Country Blvd.
Baltimore, Md. 21215

Brehms Lane Elementary
Oct. 23 from 2:30-4:30p.m.
3536 Brehms Lane
Baltimore, Md. 21213

Bay Brook Elementary
Oct. 26 from 2:30-4:30p.m.
4301 Tenth St.
Baltimore, Md. 21225

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The Health Department said it is also distributing the vaccine through pediatric offices in the city.

FluMist is a nasal spray influenza vaccine. Officials said children with chronic diseases, including asthma, should not receive the FluMist vaccine. Information and informed consent forms will be available at the vaccination sessions.
